I tell ya, the local news is getting more happening-er day by day.
1. Jurong Lake is gonna become a watersports haven. A new stadium is being built and near completion at Jurong West too.
Finally. The Jurong district that spans 4 MRT stations no doubt. Which is a good 12 minutes of travelling time from one end to the other. Also, lotsa confusion on which parts are ethically part of Jurong, no, we're not talking about electoral divisions. Like Zaki says, "I live in the REAL Boon Lay man. The old Boon Lay. Just cos they built Jurong Point and named that station such don't mean that's Boon Lay!" I agree. Nuff said. Well Zack, now you can swim and paraglide and play footy in YOUR Boon Lay.
2.Man dies after getting thwacked at Planet Marina.
Isn't it amazing that the only bar brawls that are reported are only when someone dies. Like seriously man, address the damn problem. Any given day, yes even Mondays, Geylang+MS+Tg Pagar+Boat Quay+Clarke Quay+Zouk+Chinatown will give you at least 5 quarrels, 2 violent beatdowns and 1 casualty lying in the gurney.
3.Money Sense programmes to target man on the street and students.
Right, and so all the moneyMind and MoneyWise programmes we were watching from aeons ago kinda were supposed to just help the rich get richer? Man on the street... Hmm..The rich do breathe rarefied air last I heard. It's a layer cake baby. You take shit till you reach the top. But why students? KNN only gonna spend their parents money. You should teach the parents to earn more, not teach the kids to spend less. What will happen to the economy then. Spend man Spend.
4. Raffles Junior College launches India bi-cultural programme.
This is only going to "inspire" more RJC students to wake up the morning after the trip, start a blogspot account, and draw stick figures to "promote their bi-culturalism". And, we will be watching you mofos. The cop is my fwend liao. We drink together.
5. CJ Yong Pung How retires.
About the best news anyone's ever heard. Anyone with a tinge of criminal running through their veins at least. Although CJ Yong, was the main driving force behind all these cool hi-tech video conferencing court rooms and removing backlogs [something the Justice Dept in India should get around to, cos we need more Virumandis]
Also, he is the famous CJ who just about INCREASES your sentence should you choose to appeal the ones dished out in the lower courts. Now, aint that gonna be a fine chrissy present. According to him, if you is in the wrong, you better not be audacious enough to even expect leniency.
Damn, I'm glad he's gone. Especially when I'm probably gonna be standing in the docks claiming ignorance coupla years from now. "But, but, but, you mean the law of self defense doesnt apply to hitting a policeman meh?"
Adieu!
