A bit late to the topic, but it its very perturbing that there have been 2 gun crimes in Singapore in just under 2 months. One was the alleged robbery of the lady where a security guard got injured, and then of course the gangland killing of Las Vegas KTV Boss in the heartlands.
It is a good joint though, Las Vegas, a bit of the exclusive feel, much unlike other KTVs. At least the sleaze is well concealed in this joint.
Well, from taxi drivers to friends to teachers have tried to guess on what the hell the fucker did to get shot 6 times at point blank range. I mean you can't be killing people just because you're filthy rich right. And if owning 3 bungalows, renting it out, yet parking your big ass Mercedes in a Serangoon Ave 4 carpark is not rich, then I don know what to say.
Anyway, story has been confirmed that dear boss loves to help other high triad bosses place obscene bets on soccer games but is famous for siphoning off some of the winnings. We all know the way that works , if you've bet through a bookie before. The sms comes back Win 95 [i.e. for every 100 bucks u bet, you win 95 dollars, the 5 dollars being kinda service charge i suppose]. For very popular bets, the win rate goes down to a minimum of 75. Well, as the info passes through many runners' hands, the original win rate can dwindle from 95 to even 85 depending on who wants to put how many fingers in whose pockets.
He did the same, and got clipped. Fair and square I suppose. But the more important bit is that youngsters and even people up to their late 30s can express concern that there are actually Triad activities in Singapore. And these are the same clowns who think that the SSB [Secret Society Branch], a subsdiary of the broadbased CID [Criminal Investigation Department], is only committed to track down those punks we see sniffing glue at lift landings and constantly getting charged under the Rioting Act.
Well, small kiddos I understand but people in their 30s? Come on man, you were born during the 60s-70s, where gangland turf wars were at their peak. Largely due to communist and migrant influences from neighbouring Malaysia/Hong Kong and such. Caught Young and Dangerous Parts 1-8 lately? They speak the truth. For those who haven't seen HK in its true light before, watch the film, catch a flight and see reality in action.
They even named the gun man as part of the Ang Soon Tong society, whose influence stretches all the way from here to the northern tip of Malaya and onwards back to the Chinese roots. Interesting? Yes. Amazing? Not.
It's fools' knowledge if you don't acknowledge the existence of the influence of the triads in the "underground" society/economy in Singapore. Moneylending, bookmaking, brothels [which are legal in SG btw..only soliciting is not], the triads have their hands in everything that can be related to fast money. And more often than not, the cash inflow is pumped into run-of-the-mill official businesses like KTVs and other entertainment outlets whose accounts can then be efficiently manipulated to fool the tax man.
I was asking my guys what would happen if someone charged at us with a gun, and whether if we had a gun we'd do the same. Friends being 30+ yr old men of the malay ethnic group. I think its common concurrence is that you must a real dumb fuck to even hold on to a gun here. If we found it, we'd go return it to the cops but just before that call the new paper so we can get free handphone. By the way, if you wanna call TNP over some hot news story. Be prepared to wait till your balls drop then also get through only to a voicemail system. Giving them the highest marks for "instant" action.
But, but, but.... The shocker is that the Malaysian Police are indeed fucking effective. To imagine a simple tip off from Singapore CID and they had eye contact and surveillance with the criminals 4 hours into their trip to Malaysia, and tailing them from Muar to Negri Sembilan to finally KL where they got apprehended. In bed, no less. Some sense of humour la there, a good joke over a kopi-o-kosong.
So, DO THE RIGHT THING.
Don't play with guns. Last thing we want is for the KLKs under our block to upgrade progressively from broken KLKalyani beer bottles, to Gurkha daggers, to Glocks.
P.S. Just for information sake, unsure if still valid but this was from an interview of a former gangbuster in the police force, contributing to a "Road to Independence" article.

A table of hot-spots for secret society activities: Who control where | |
Ang Peh Hor | Jalan Membina, Tiong Bahru |
Ang Soon Tong | 10-milestone Nee Soon area to end of Sembawang |
Hai Lock San | Tiong Bahru, Seng Poh Road |
Leng Hor San | Covent Garden, Havelock Road |
Pek Kim Leng | Bugis, Chinatown |
Sar Ji | Boat Quay, Mohd Sultan, Kim Yam, River Valley Road |
See Tong | North Bridge Road, Beach Road, former Odeon Theatre area, Seah Street |
Sio Oh Leng | Ganges Avenue, River Valley Road |
Each major group also expands into numerous splinter groups. Point also to note that this is the Chinese breakdown and excludes other heartland groups cos there is not much economic activity in those regions. Also, we is multi racial, by the time i get done with the KLK/Melayu side of the equation, this entry will run the whole page.
If you're a Cedarian, also, I got an anecdote where Potong Pasir Macs had its windows smashed in before cos the managers refused to cough up protection money. =)

Guns are nice to play with... but dun play with the loser pistols... 9mm i sso screwed up... range of what? 100m? less? and the round isn't even AP -Armour Piercing-. Go for the real thing. Assault Rifles to MGs to the big guns. Meaning 40mm AGL, 50mm CIS HMG -the browining has too much recoil for us asians- Then on to the - i shall not even go to the 25mm or 75mm or 120mm mortar and so on... they are more of turret than gun- 84mm... now the 84mm is the best weapon to fire. The other side juz dies. You pee in your pants.
